World Mission Sunday

World Mission Sunday is a Day to Celebrate!

On October 23rd at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, we did just that! The Ugandan Martyrs Choir of Boston provided us with inspiring music. Our readings and prayers were in Cantonese, English, Luganda, Vietnamese, Cape Verdean Creole, Spanish and Mandarin. All in attendance received a hand-made World Misison Rosary as our main celebrant and homilist, Msgr. William Fay, Archdiocese Director of the Pontifical Misison Societies of Boston asked us to pray and work for the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

A highlight of the day was the traditional dance by the Carolines of Boston’s Ugandan Catholic Community.

After Mass, all in attendance had the opportunity to venerate a relic of Saint Teresan of Calcutta, who was canonized on September 4th. Her Sisters, the Misisonaries of Charity, who live in Boston and North Atllenboro were present. Music during the veneration was provided by the Cape Verdean Choir of Saint Edith Stein Parish in Brockton and the Vietnamese Choir of Boston.

Thanks to all who made World Mission Sunday 2016 a great day for the universal Church!
